Newlife MealTrain

MealTrain is a way to share the blessings God has given us by helping another in their time of need. It’s an organized method for our church family to deliver a home-cooked meal to someone (church member) who is going through a challenging time such as illness, homebound person living alone, birth of a child or other need as determined.

Newlife’s MealTrain is a church wide opportunity to deliver meals, directed by the PrimeTimers ministry.

Protocols:

Church leadership shall begin the communication and direction of the MealTrain by notifying the Team Leader via email at MealTrain@NewlifePomona.com

The MealTrain Team Leader will initiate the start of a MealTrain by placing a call to the family or caregiver and determining if the request meets the protocols below:

1. A MealTrain will be established using MealTrain.com, an online organization tool used to track participants and disseminate information such as dietary needs, contact information, etc. for the church member.

2. MealTrains will begin two to three days after the request for meals has been submitted and approved.

3. If a caregiver or other capable adult is in the home who can prepare meals, a MealTrain may not be needed. Exception requires approval by the Pastoral Staff.

4. The MealTrain will last for a maximum of 7 days. These days may be consecutive or span over a longer time frame such as every other day, every third day, etc.

5. A MealTrain will be provided for the person in need and the caregiver only. The exception would be a family with small children who are too young to prepare meals.

6. MealTrains may be extended beyond 7 days with the approval of the Pastoral staff.

7. Restaurant Gift Cards can be given with the prior agreement of the recipient.

8. Giving money to the MealTrain team leader or others, to prepare the meal, is not an option.

9. Two or more people are welcome to work together to prepare a meal, provided they indicate as such on MealTrain.com in the comment area titled “MEAL”
